Hey guys.

current Pc spec.

FX6300 @ 4.1
gigabyte 78lmt-usb3 motherboard
HD5770 1G Radeon GPU
Corsair xms3 1333 DDR3 ram
2 x 500 GB WD green sata 2 HDD's

Now.. i have it over clocked to 4.1 without using the CPU boost option.
, i had to p the multi to 20.5. and upt the voltage to 1.337 from 1.335 (not a massive oost, ut it made it stable at 4.1.

now, if i up the multi to 21, windows loads fine, ut as soon as i open prim95, it starts, but then 2 and 4 stop working.. then the PC just freezes.

i tried upping the voltage, but just does the same thing..

also, when at 4.2 i couldnt even open coretemp, it just crashed the system and restarts.

i am thinking to myself that my motherboard cant cope with it. but i could be wrong, and this is why im here asking for some info :D

if you need anymore info, just let me know, cheers guys :)

EDIT: can i just add, my load temps at only hitting 37c with prime95 with the CPU @ 4.1. and 39-41 coretemp.

EDIT 2: Motherboard specs Here

lol EDIT 3: :D, i keep forgetting to add things :), i have disabled C&C in bios aswell. but i don't know if there is anything else to disable, i don't want to trn things on and off because im scared of braking it.. had bad exp with bios in the past :(

There's a good chance you're hitting a wall with that board. While the CPU temp is ok, the VRM temp might be too high.

What voltages over 1.337 did you try? Have you tried increasing the bus?

hi, i took it right upto 1.4 somthing, i cant remember, and no, i havnt tried upping the bus, as i haven't used that before :D..

A 4.1GHz clock isn't too bad for that board - it wasn't designed for the FX series and is very cheap (I hope you didn't pay a lot for it).

Well, £38 for a board that can run your CPU at 4.1GHz isn't really that bad. You may be able to get it up a little further with tweaks but if 1.4v wouldn't help get you to 4.2GHz it's not looking hopeful.

ye i supose its not, i would like to take it further, i want to know if my fx6300 is a golden chip, hitting 5ghz :D, this is one of the reasons i bought it.

i have seen other people's stable at 4.9 which is a very good overclock.

id be happy with 4.5 - 4.6 to be honest.

could you recommend a board that is good for fx chips ? but has to be cheap as possible also.

cheers.

thats not too bad, but like you say, is it worth it for 10% lol.

i will have to have a think about it :)

thanks for your help, i will keep tweaking to see if i can get passed the 4.2 mark.

cheers teppic!
