having windows issues

every few days my pc will come up and say, its encountered a critical problem and needs to shut down, save your work, but when i check the event viewer it doesnt show anything when i reboot, anyone have any ideas?

specs are
i52500k
gigabyte z68ap-d3
4gb xms 1600mhz
6950 2gb
arctic cooler pro 7
265gb m4

i assumed it would be my overclock, so i took it off, it still keeps happening without the overclock

sorry forgot to add, have done a full virus check with microsoft security essentials and came back with no issues

Run a scan with something like MalwareBytes too, just incase. Always good to run 2 different scans as some AV's find stuff that the other doesnt.

Which bit are you checking under Event Viewer; System?
