Hawx

Thanks.

Any ways to remap the controls though ?
If no then WTF are Ubisoft thinking, first wheelman then this, won't we be able to map the controls in any ubisoft game now, we're pc gamers not console gamers we want to remap our controls to our liking .

.. lol? Please tell me your joking, or mentally challenged.

A little harsh but true none the less. I play FSX with 100GB's of add-ons. I can tell you the only plane to pull 9's indefinitely is the Eurofighter Typhoon & even then thats only because of the G-suit made for the jet. 2 negative G is the limit for most pilots (all the blood rushes to the head) but in this game you can push the noise down to an almost instant vertical decent thats quite impossible in real life.

Not played it again since that 2 hour session....

Gonna post here as I have a problem with it.
I bought a Saitek Cyborg wireless stick for it, but when I try to use it I cant map it in the settings menu.
If I go custom and press a button they dont do anything, all functions work in control panel/game controllers.
Only bought the stick to play the game, so waste of money really.

Had the same problem with my PS2 controller to USB. Used it one day fine but the next it wouldnt detect it (i.e wouldnt move to custom).

I re-seated the USB cable i couple of times & may of restarted with it conneted, problem solved. Although FSX picks it up in game fine (freezes for 2 seconds).

Can't get this to even load the installer on Windows 7. It keeps telling me its incompatible with the 64bit windows!!

Even when I try and run it in compatibility mode :(

Just beaten this, thoughts below:

+Reasonable length of game, I was expecting it to be done in around 6hrs but there is 20 missions typically lasting about 20-30mins each.
+Excellent framerate
+Graphically fairly pleasing until you get down below 500ft or so when the terrain starts to look a bit blocky, for general flying around it looks decent
+Decent array of planes and ordnance
+A few decent missions such as the nighthawk one
+Guide thingy that plots routes e.g. to dodge missiles, launch ground attacks etc works pretty well and helps avoid frustration

-Lets you choose plane before mission but a bit flawed, e.g. one time I switched from recommended to a plane I thought might be better, but the game still gave a 'switch to radar guided missiles now!' prompt despite the fact that my plan wasn't equipped with any. Conversely one mission where you have to protect the US Fleet I found basically impossible with the recommended plan due to the Harrier/chopper waves, in the end I restarted with a plan that had Multi-AA missiles and it was much easier as you could down the enemy aircraft quicker before they reached your fleet
-Storyline is all very predictable and 'meh', they needed something to splice the campaign together but there is no comparison with say, Freespace 2.
-No cockpit view
-Annoying that you can't go below about 540 knots in the normal view
-Wingmen seem to have some sort of hypersonic afterburner, if you order them to attack they accelerate off much faster than you can under full afterburner.

Overall I thought it was an OK game, better than Top Gun from a few years ago although obviously missing the film references.
