"Superpollen" event at the moment apparently due to recent weather and hot weather later this work will only make it worse can barely open my eyes at the moment

Thought my hay-fever was really bad this weekend but the aches started and it's rona. First time despite 2 years of front line NHS work.

BA4 and 5 variants on the rise at the moment presumably one of those

My seasonal asthma seems to be the worst it's ever been this week. Normally I would only have to use an inhaler about 5-6 times over the course of 2 months (so hardly at all) and that was when there was going to be a storm in peak hay fever season. Now I'm using it 3-4 times a day. Don't know if Covid has had a knock-on effect there or whether it's just a crazy season this time around.

What do people think of Beconase? I bought the spray earlier today. I haven't tried it yet.

It says its non-drowsy. Is it? I know some hayfever meds say that and then they can make some people drowsy.
I've found it pretty good but only if I use it first thing in the morning and use a saline spray before hand to have a good clear out. Doesn't make me drowsy and I'm not aware that it's a noted side effect of Beconase, doing that every morning and having some 120mg fexofenadine seems to keep the majority of my symptoms manageable.

Im the same, I get seasonal asthma as well during the hayfever season and I’m puffing on my Brycanyl inhaler about 5 times a day

Anyone here got kids who suffer with hayfever? My 5 year old son has hayfever/grass allergy and he's suffering like mad this week. Picked him from school on Wednesday and they'd cut the grass, his eyes were swollen with blisters around them.

We've got medication, eye drops, some wax we put around his eyes to try and 'catch' the pollen but ultimately, he's in such discomfort at the moment.

Wondering for any other tips anyone could suggest (non medical of course)? It's killing me seeing how swollen his eyes are getting each day.

Trip to the docs for something "different". Maybe even the injection?

I suffered for years with OTC antihistamines, finally tried a bunch of different ones and found that some worked better on different years.

Fexofenadine was the big first "breakthrough" moment after moving from Loratadine, within 24 hours going from unable to function to perfectly fine. After a year or 2, Fexo started losing its effectiveness and switched to Acrivastine which has been great the last 2-3 years but feel like its losing its effectiveness now.

We've been to and from doctors and specialists quite a bit over the last 12 months (mainly due to a sesame allergy), it's in a recent proper allergy test we found out it wasn't just hayfever but an actual allergy to grass.

He has prescription eye drops and antihistamines but at the moment, barely touching the sides :( We're obviously limited by his age and dosages his body can handle versus an adult.

Hayfever is the worst thing ever invented tbh, people who don't get it at all don't know how lucky they are!

May/June/July is the worst for me, with June being a particular highlight, just have to stay away from outside a lot of the time.

The recent addition of an air purifier has helped immensely getting rid of the waking up to a sneezing frenzy, I just sneeze 5 minutes later in the bathroom now. I've also tried a different kind of anti histamine this week that seems more effective.

But I agree, whoever invented hayfever needs to take a long hard look at themselves. As far as I can see it doesn't benefit anyone.

My gf and her kids have it terribly at the moment. Genuinely thought we might be in for another round of Covid at the start of the week but all the tests have been negative and I've not had any symptoms. She's saying it's the worst she's had it for an age. Very thankful I don't suffer from it!

I'm using Fexofenadine 180mg (brand name is Telfast) and a Ventolin inhaler to cut out the wheezing at night. It's been manageable even through the super-pollen (still got symptoms) but I had to mow the lawn on Tuesday and it seriously knocked me out, even the inhaler (usually 1 pump and done affair) wasn't cutting it, had to lie in a bath to stop my face/eyes from itching once I got my breathing back to 75% working :D

Its gotten so bad i wear a mask/respirator when I cut the grass otherwise its a nightmare

I don't think theres going to be any relief from this until theres a decent thunderstorm to wash it all out of the air

Interestingly my mum was commenting earlier my dad's hay fever, which used to be really bad at this time of year, has completely disappeared since he started using a nasal spray for snoring.
