what it like? is it relativley pleasant and trouble free? are there any good pubs/fish and chip shops etc?

any advice would be much appreciated thanks :)

Was there nowhere else available :D

Its not the most exciting place to visit but from what you are suggesting it is probably going to be fine. Dont know anywhere specific but the area is alright.

a mate suggested it as a joke and we all agreed :D

there is a ferry over to portsmouth which should be a bit more lively :)

There isn't much to do on Hayling Island itself. Only 1 fish n chip shop to the east and a small fun fair to the west which is for small kids really.

To the North of the island is Havant. Wouldn't really want to go there for a night out as it's full of chavs.

Not sure how late the ferry across to Portsmouth runs but it will drop you off on the east side on the east side of Portsmouth (Eastney) which is deserted. Just a small marina and houses. All the action is at the west side of Portsmouth. It would be easier to get a taxi from your campsite to Havant station and get a train to Portsmouth Harbour. Outside the station is Gunwharf, clubs, pubs, shopping and the Spinnaker tower :)

thanks for the advice :D

how much would a taxi be from south hayling to the station and a train to portsmouth be?

we wont have much money so want to do as much as we can by driving ourselves, but i still want to be able to have a drink

It's quite a drive to Portsmouth from Hayling, well longer than you would want to take a cab for.

If it's clubs and drinking you are looking for maybe you might consider another destination. Hayling is a rather ageing costal resort nowadays, quite pleasent just probably not what your looking for.

we dont want any clubs or anything, just a nice camp site and a nice pub :D
