My 30" only has 1 x DVI input but I would like to run my PC and xbox 360 to the screen at the same time. I bought a DVI splitter and when attached all the screen goes all funny rainbow colours and I am forced to just use one DVI cable at a time.

is there any way I can attach 2 DVI cables to this monitor and it can just auto use each signal when each is turned on ?

Any help is appreciated as the cable I bought below isnt workiing

The reason why it goes funky colours is because itll feedback on itself (not 100% why, but its the same for audio). You need some actual circuitry to stop that happening, so a DVI switch box.

The above cable is for splitting an output into 2, so you can feed say 2 monitors from one pc. It wouldn't work the other way round as you've found out.
What you need is a DVI switch box

I dont think that DVI switch boxes are all that common really, but HDMI ones are. So all you really need is to get one of those and DVI-HDMI cables for the PC and from the switch box to the screen.

The problem is that DVI switch boxes are not cheap (£50+) and normally only rated to 1080p max resolution (guess your screen goes higher?)

Ones designed for higher res are £100+ which seems a lot just to avoid swapping cables.

Hence HDMI switch box is probably the way to go as cost only around £15 and will handle the larger resolutions.

EDIT: Just noticed the OP is permabanned - oops
