Hazro - Any Update?

gosh, some people really do go overboard about input lag!

Input lag talk is the 2008 equivalent of what response time talk was 3 years ago ;)

I don't think a single sole in the world will notice any input lag in real world gaming or usage on the HZ24Wi if I can't! I say this because I'm usually licking up such issues like a horizontally challenged kid on sweets and I am mighty impressed with the "i" revision - I'm also on a wireless mouse (MX revolution) so hardcore wirees will have a field day!

As I said earlier MRK you have definitely comforted me regarding this aspect of the screen and I will be buying the HZ24Wi no matter what :D

I'm just trying to figure out what causes the input lag in higher quality monitors. It seems the cheaper the screen, regardless of panel used, the lower the inputlag

I don't think your beeing quite fair there Baddass. Fact is that some people are more sensitive to input lag than others. I can feel a a 16ms input lag. It's bearable but detectable.

For instance I had the NEC 20GWX2 pro which has about 16ms input lag. I also had a L2442WD-VA 24" which has close to zero input lag. The difference was definitely noticeable ;)

Thanks markiemrboo for these pictures. Unfortunately, like I thought glossy panel is not for me and I don't want to live in the dark...Does anyone know if the hz26wi is glossy?

It's to do with the panel technology itself mainly really, TN panels have very low lag because both their response times are very low and they are overdriven to the hills - colour accuracy and image quality is not of high importance to this kind of screen, just speed.

Unfortunately with current LCD technology it's not possible to have the best of both worlds but the current IPS panels are very close! Like I said earlier, if you can notice the input lag on the “I” then you have some mighty fine motion sensing eyes! I think what Hazro have done is improved the panel technology used along with the new scaler chip it's very hard to detect the input lag even though 30ms is there - much like how 3dmarks and real world gaming don't go hand in hand all the time.

Another plus point for the glossy front is that even with some reflections in daylight is that even with a reflection or two the clarity of the image is superb, it’s just so clear and doesn’t cause any affect on the image below the glossy filter – much like the NEC 20WGX2 it’s very pure.

The matt finish HZ24W was just like the Dell 2007WFP picture quality wise, it was superb after calibration but with a reflection or bright light behind you pointing at the screen the image below this reflection had a certain thing about it, I don’t know how to describe it better but it’s the same as trying to look at the contents on a piece of white A4 paper with sunlight shining on it – a bit fatiguing after a while – as if it could do with a filter to dim some of the haziness and give more clarity.

Yep, the glossy panel is still annoying me a bit. Not so much as yesterday when I first got it, but the annoyance is still there. The glare can be really quite distracting. I'm wondering if there's anything that can be done about it. Is there such a thing as an anti-glare glossy finish? That would have been good, if the glossy finish is required for getting rid of the purple tint. Time to search google!

(Is aware I am probably being picky again)

Got my replacement this morning.
Just to confirm whats allready been said
The picture quality on this Wi compaired to the W is fantastic, not sure if its the glossy screen or the different panel ( now apparantly H-IPS ) but colours have improved especially the blacks.
Also been playing some UT3 this afto too, the motion blur is significantly been improved. With the improved picture quality this game looks even more gorgous. I never felt any input lag on the W and its not present on this Wi either.
Now what I dont like is ...... The shortcut button to the aspect ratio control has gone, its buried in the dodgey menu. The dodgey menu is still dodgey. There is no 1:1 pixel mapping at any resolution apart from 1920 x 1080 and you have to go through the dodgey menu to get to it...every time. ( On the W version I`d leave it on "User defined" and it would stay there. Switching from 1920 x 1200 to 1920 x 1080 ( pixel mapped ) was automatic now on the Wi you have to mess about in the dodgey menu.

The glossy screen, well its certainally glossy. I can see how it can bother some people but Ive not long come from a big beasty of a CRT which was just as glossy, besides theres something about matt screens I dont like I seem to get flashes or sparkles from them.

Some pics of how glossy it can be if you have a window behind you during the day.

Thanx for pictures and mini review Dying to get my hands on this monitor.

Still don't undertand all the fuss about the 1:1 pixel mapping. Why don't you just use your graphic card ? You can pixel map any resolution with 2 clicks.

And yes I have tested it with both Nvidia and ATI. Works like a charm..

Yeah my only request would really be if they do any future firmware updates to add "user defined" back to the OSD as an aspect ratio and map the button back to the front panel!

That would be the only request really everything else is spot on !

Anyone interested in the power consumption of this monitor? ;)

I measured mine (HZ24WBi) at 100W sitting at the windows desktop. I wonder if it goes up any with motion. My brothers 19" CRT is 80W.

Just tested with Winamp visualisations going (Milkdrop). Doesn't go up with motion at all. Still 100W, so... 100W constant!

For some sort of reference: My computer uses 110W idle :)

I have one of those plug in meter things. Brennenstuhl PM230.

It would have been interesting to see if the old version used any less / more, as this new version gets really hot. I didn't think to check that while I still had it though. They picked that up earlier today :(

Also do some thing about highlighting what you`ve selected.
ie if you want to adjust contrast. menu>select highlights the brightness then you move down with the arrows utill contrast is highlighted, press select again and nothing happens, it would be nice if the bar was highlighted too so you know you`ve actually selected it.
A minor annoyance but never the less you would have thought someone would have pointed it out.

Ah yes that too :p

So 2 software things they could do with updating in a new OSD update perhaps! To be honest though That point never occurred to me, i did notice and just brushed it off because I'm rarely in the OSD after initial calibration but can see how it could be an issue!

Totally agree there! Something tells me firmware updates ain't gonna be free though?

Forget the clicks automatic was better :)
But yes you`re right its nothing really, just the fact it was there before so why take it away

Would everyone stop getting their updated models - its just not fair :) ;)

I've been waiting well over a month for my replacement!! :( - meaning that i've been using my CRT having spent £400+ on a monitor that i've barely used

I guess Hazro are dealing with some customers directly first - i just wish they would send some OcUK's way!!!

First thing I did when I took it out of the box was to thoroughly check, and it wasnt there then. luckily its right at the top and only seen on white backrounds. But I hope it goes away . Never had any on my W version....bummer eh :(
