I don't think a single sole in the world will notice any input lag in real world gaming or usage on the HZ24Wi if I can't! I say this because I'm usually licking up such issues like a horizontally challenged kid on sweets and I am mighty impressed with the "i" revision - I'm also on a wireless mouse (MX revolution) so hardcore wirees will have a field day!
gosh, some people really do go overboard about input lag!
Input lag talk is the 2008 equivalent of what response time talk was 3 years ago
As I said earlier MRK you have definitely comforted med regarding this aspect of the screen and I will be buying the HZ24Wi no matter what
I'm just trying to figure out what causes the input lag in higher quality monitors. It seems the cheaper the screen, regardless of panel used, the lower the inputlag
I don't think your beeing quite fair there Baddass. Fact is that some people are more sensitive to input lag than others. I can feel a a 16ms input lag. It's bearable but detectable.
For instance I had the NEC 20GWX2 pro which has about 16ms input lag. I also had a L2442WD-VA 24" which has close to zero input lag. The difference was definitely noticeable
Got my replacement this morning.
Just to confirm whats allready been said
The picture quality on this Wi compaired to the W is fantastic, not sure if its the glossy screen or the different panel ( now apparantly H-IPS ) but colours have improved especially the blacks.
Also been playing some UT3 this afto too, the motion blur is significantly been improved. With the improved picture quality this game looks even more gorgous. I never felt any input lag on the W and its not present on this Wi either.
Now what I dont like is ...... The shortcut button to the aspect ratio control has gone, its buried in the dodgey menu. The dodgey menu is still dodgey. There is no 1:1 pixel mapping at any resolution apart from 1920 x 1080 and you have to go through the dodgey menu to get to it...every time. ( On the W version I`d leave it on "User defined" and it would stay there. Switching from 1920 x 1200 to 1920 x 1080 ( pixel mapped ) was automatic now on the Wi you have to mess about in the dodgey menu.
The glossy screen, well its certainally glossy. I can see how it can bother some people but Ive not long come from a big beasty of a CRT which was just as glossy, besides theres something about matt screens I dont like I seem to get flashes or sparkles from them.
Oh yeah the DPMS works in Vista
Yeah my only request would really be if they do any future firmware updates to add "user defined" back to the OSD as an aspect ratio and map the button back to the front panel!
That would be the only request really everything else is spot on !
Also do some thing about highlighting what you`ve selected.
ie if you want to adjust contrast. menu>select highlights the brightness then you move down with the arrows utill contrast is highlighted, press select again and nothing happens, it would be nice if the bar was highlighted too so you know you`ve actually selected it.
A minor annoyance but never the less you would have thought someone would have pointed it out.
Thanx for pictures and mini review Dying to get my hands on this monitor.
Still don't undertand all the fuss about the 1:1 pixel mapping. Why don't you just use your graphic card ? You can pixel map any resolution with 2 clicks.
And yes I have tested it with both Nvidia and ATI. Works like a charm..
