Hazro - Any Update?

Not really and I do find that offensive actually.
Without myself and some others here buying all these 24" screens and trying them and then reporting back my findings on the first and last day of ownership in these threads how else do you expect people to get information on how the screens are to live with? reviews never give a taste of real world usage that actual user opinions do. Also even when I had the HP I said the Hazro was presented better and also that the picture quality of the Hazro was better (especially the text).

I've hardly changed my mind at all and have had all of the popular model 24" screens available today

Do you know the reason I've had the Hazro the longest of all of them? the reason why even after being offered a refund several times I decided to keep it?
It's because it has the nicest picture quality of all the screens I've had that's why. Yeah it does have some issues due to be fixed soon (already talked about in depth in the other threads) and the stand is not very customisable (already talked about as well) but no one will argue the fact that the picture quality is one of the best they've seen if the current banding and line issues are set aside and it's built better than any other screen out (just like the Apple screens).

I had a guy come pick up some speakers off me I sold on ebay today, the first thing he said when he came in was "nice screen!"

It's the first thing people always say and then comment on how my pc makes no noise ¬_¬

Now now..... stop being coy u invited him in on purpose !

Theres no way anyone on here lets ebay strangers come inside there house too show off there goods !

Do people use their callibration stuff once and then unplug all of it?

Does it only have to be used once?

Might get one and sell it on, it seems silly spending £400 on a monitor and then another £120 to calibrate it properly ;\

Only if you need accurate colours and the improved greyscale details brought out.

If you just game, watch a few movies and surf then save your £120 but if you do get one then you'll get the best out of your display since any display benefits from a calibration device.

You should calibrate once a month because backlights and panel qualities change ever so slightly over time so your calibrated settings can become shifted. You'll see this if you run an analysis using the probe monthly that the values have changed slightly.

I don't mind forking out if I can sell it on, but I don't know how it works - does it have to be plugged in all the time? Or used only as a one-off.

Thanks

You install the software, plug it in and run the software.

Following the onscreen instructions you simply complete the calibration steps and then unplug. Redo process on next calibration.

On VISTA it's worth noting that the calibrated LUT settings do get lost sometimes, most commonly when loading the gfx card control panel or when exiting some games like Crysis. If this happens you have to click on the LUT loader found in the startup folder in the start menu just to re-initialise the calibrated LUT again.

This is a bug in the gfx card driver under Vista regarding LUT changes not sticking in some scenarios.

So you could just borrow someone's Lacie Blue Eye Pro, install the software, plug it in, callibrate, uninstall software + unplug Lacie?

Sorry for seeming like such an idiot, I just know nothing about this sort of thing!

Cheers for the help.

You can, but monitors change over time. The CCFL backlights fade with usage for instance.

So has anybody had an update from Hazro today? Will monitors have to be sent back to them for a firmware upgrade? What about if I get a HZ24Wi and find that it needs the extra shielding, will they do this on-site since that's what the warranty states? I really want the HZ24Wi (I think £400 for a 24" is better value than £530 for a 26") , but I'm not sure whether to wait...

What's the anti-glare glossy screen like on the 24"? My room light is directly behind and above where I sit, and I'm worried that it will show too easily at night.

Agreed, when you're spending the best part of £500 on a monitor you expect it to be free of any major flaws, which most of the monitors mrk has had (as have I) aren't.

Dell - awful panel uniformity, high input lag (I don't game, but it was bad in general windows usage too - I called it "drunk mouse syndrome").
Hazro 1st gen - sleep problem
Hazro 2nd gen - banding

I've stuck with the HP lp2475w for now as it seems to be free of any major problems for my usage. When I upgrade to 30" I'll be looking at the Hazro's again as they were fantastic.

mrk also had the benq which would randomly black out.

Be thankful there are people on this forum who are willing to put their dosh on the line (or time, spent arranging returns etc.) so that we can help guide you through the minefield that is the current 24" monitor arena.

The monitors that suffer from banding or greenn snow ( or firmware or shielding) problems are being recalled. So no they wont be repaired on site regardless of the problem.

As for the glossy screen, I also have a window behind me. Sitting here typing this now I can see the window and a silhouette of my self. Doesnt bother me though as Ive come from a big beasty of a crt and that was the same. If you search my posts in this thread I took some pics of what the reflection is like.

Cool, I don't think my reflection will be anywhere near as obvious as that, and I guess at the end of the day I can turn off the main light and turn on my other ones around the room! Anyways, maybe I should just go for the monitor now; either I wait until all issues are fixed, or I risk a non-perfect one now and send it off to Hazro if it needs fixing. Either way I'm waiting, and who knows I may get a good screen...

Just had a response from Hazro to my suggestion of delivering my monitor personally and waiting while they upgraded:

Warranty Services work strictly on a scheduled RMA process and do not offer direct delivery of the monitor. All returns and deliveries will therefore take place via FedEX couriers.

They've declined my offer! Do you think they would notice me if I cellotaped myself to the screen and bundled into the delivery van?

Just received a Reply from HAZRO concerning FIRMWARE UPGRADE >>>

Dear Customer,

This notification is intended for Hazro customers affected
by any of the problems outlined below. If any of the issues
do not affect your monitor, please discard this message and
announcement.

----------------------------------------------------------
ISSUES:
----------------------------------------------------------

- Banding on gradient backgrounds and images.
- Random pixelation i.e. 'sparking' of pixels.

----------------------------------------------------------
ADDITIONAL INFO:
----------------------------------------------------------

All monitors affected by either or both of the above issues
are to be re-called as there would be significant delays in
developing a user installable firmware fix. Hazro estimates
that a firmware upgrade will take approximately 2 hours and
in most cases, the Customer will have their monitor returned
within 24-48 hours [depending on the time of day a returned
unit arrives back at Hazro].

Indeed, but this time mine is going back for good :(

As nice as it is to look at and touch/be in the presence of I feel the issues once accumulated together are not up to scratch with my requirements any longer.

I'll defo be looking at them again when they release onboard LUT models as that's my ultimate goal but for the moment the HP seems to offer more things suited to my requirements!

Damning words indeed Mrk, especially as you were the one who initially convinced me to get mine! Have they agreed to refund you?

Maybe my comment came out wrong, and indeed I do appreciate that people like you guys 'put their dosh on the line', and am thankful for it. My intended point was that I'd imagine quite a few people here base their expensive purchases on your reviews (e.g. Sijo45) - then to reverse your opinions could be construed as somewhat unhelpful, that's all.

Just trying to add constructive comments, honestly!

Hmm well I web noted Hazro on Thursday, saying I have a hz24wi and asking to be added to the list of people getting emails regarding the firmware fix, stating I get banding and green sparks.

Just had a reply:

Hazro said:
Hazro can check for all DPMS affected monitors on a RTB
basis. Hazro may choose, at its sole discretion, to replace
the previous version Hazro monitors with the latest ['i'
versions]. However, it is more than likely that older
versions will have faulty components replaced.

Joy.

I'm just going to wait for you lot to post the details of the link to the registration form :(
