Hi all

Unsure if I should have put this in an existing Hazro thread! they all seem quiet at the moment!

I'm in need of a new monitor to replace my old SM 226BW.
Now I'v been looking into the Hazro HZ27WA for a few days now and was just about the pop in and get one direct from OC as I only live around the corner

As a final check, I searched through the forum and read all the posts on the Hazro's including the problems reported!

Just goes to show how useful this forum was and the feedback given, I had no idea about the issue's

Now am I correct in thinking? "IF" you get a good one with no dead pixels or dust then its a cracking monitor for the money compared to the ACD price or equivelent monitors?

Pro's from my point of view!

- 27" IPS with the same LG panel that's in the ACD for nearly £400 cheaper?
- Value for money, carn't really stretch to the dell u2711 and the cheap 27" on OC don't seem great?
- big improvement over my 22" 226BW

Con's

- Potential dust behind glass panel and possible dead pixels!

The only good point is I'm only around the corner, If I get a poor example I can just take it straight back to OC.

Plus I could ask for it to be checked first for high dust levels! they may not want to open a box up but it may save another one coming back?

a tiny bit of dust I could live with, and maybe the odd pixel as I'm not a pro user/gamer. From what I can gather you can only notice faults if you search for them/test

Possible later batches have these issue's resolved as not all seem to have a problem??

Any advice appreciated

That does seem to be he only recurring issue so if you have a way to check before you buy that might be ideal. Great monitor for the price and certainly good value for money.

It does immensely suck that these issues have crept up in what otherwise looks like great value for money. The other issue seems to be the monitor not being recognised as a Hazro... meaning something cant be used... was not following that discussion very closely! If you have a way of checking then this would be the monitor of choice for this price range.

I have this monitor and am torn between keeping it and sending it back.
It's fantastic, but the dust is really annoying on white backgrounds and the stuck pixel in the middle is really annoying on sark backgrounds.
Apart from these issue it really is fantastic.

I asked for a direct replacement thinking I might have better luck, even asked them to check the monitor before sending (was willing to pay) but they said they couldn't do that.

If you live round the corner then definitley worth a gamble, as some people have had monitors without these issues.

You have to be careful thinking that way.

OcUK aren't Marks & Spencer. You can't just take stuff back because you don't like it.

You may not get a monitor that meets your standards but unless it's actually faulty OcUK are with their rights just to say tough.

For example Hazro's pixel policy allows 9 dead pixels before the screen is considered faulty. You can't go back into OcUK and say "my monitor has 9 dead pixels I want another one". Well you can, but most likely they'll tell you to go away.

If you buy something from a shop you don't have the protection of the Distance Selling Regulations where, if you order something mail order sight unseen, you can send it back for any reason within 7 working days.

That's why even though I only live 10 minutes from OcUK I make big purchases online and have them delivered. It helps to have free delivery I suppose.

Berno, another 15 posts and you can have free delivery:

You could do those tonight if you have a wade through the various forum sections. But no spamming.

Many thanks for your input Gents

Well I jumped in the deep end and went for it!

I must be one of the lucky few as I have no dead pixels or dust that I can visibly see!
Just had a solid white back ground running and I cannot find one single image fault

Will reply back later tonight after I'v had a play around.

Money burning a hole in your pocket?

You didn't wait around long for advice.

Absolutely why you should order online. The Distance Selling Regulations that Surveyor mentioned are designed to protect the consumer (Berno) in exactly this kind of situation. And make the experience a little more like shopping in a real shop (like Marks and Spencer) where you can interact with products in some way before buying them. You have a week to 'interact' with them and if you are displeased you are within your rights to return the product for a full refund. This allows you to test them properly and explore every nook and cranny before buying. This thread is very relevant and worth a careful read - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18260622&highlight=dsr+username_pcm2.

Edit: He's already bought it and he seems happy with it. Yeah no waiting around huh?

@ Surveyor - Many thanks for the info and help mate!

To be honest I'm that use to running down to OC direct for parts it never crossed my mind to order online. Plus I had no idea after 100 forum posts you could get free delivery or I would have done this.

I didn't know anything about DSR until I read your link. Looking back it's logical I should have gone down this route, especially with the perceived high risk level with this monitor.

I already knew about Hazro's Pixel policy before I posted on the forum. It also states on the OC product discription that this product may have dust due to the manufacturing process. So I didn't go in totally blind

Now I know about DSR I'll use the shipping route in the future!

O and getting them to open a box was just an idea lol
I didnt think it was fair to expect them to start opening box's so I didn't ask:)

Back to the monitor!

Well I must say my example is absolutly stunning!
The image quality is superb and I carn't fault the image

I'v been playing with it for a few days now and its in a totally different league to my 22" Samsung. " which is to be expected"

I think for the money its an absolute bargin expecially when you consider the "C" version is nearly half the ACD rrp!

I'll run over some of the issue's others have had incase anyone else is thinking about getting one, but is put off by some bad examples

Stand - Well it does the job. glossy black plastic looks nice and fits in well with the design. trying to adjust the monitor was another issue tho. I thought it was seized at one point as I couldn't adjust the tilt. had to unplug the monitor and place it on the ground to get a better grip which sorted the problem!

Plastic case - looks really smart in my opinion with the silver lip around the glass. the silver trim covers the glass panel well so I'm hoping I don't get any dust afew months down the line

Glass panel - Mine unlike some others is a good fit and is flush to the silver trim. totally unmarked also. The only problem i think some will pick up on is the 0.5-1mm gap in the bottom right hand corner. (glass edge to silver trim)

Panel/dust - I have zero dead pixels, the only fault I can find is a tiny small mark in the lower right hand corner! it's impossible to spot unless you study that area up close with a white background. tried to find it when gaming or general use and again its impossible to spot! As a result I dont have a problem with this

Just my 2 pence worth! had my example had dead pixels or heavy dust levels I wouldn't be so happy

On the whole tho its a stunning monitor and its 99% perfect!
If hazro sort the issues it would be hard pushed to get a better monitor at this price??
