Hazro - Scaling to non-naive resolutions

I am currently weighing up waiting for the new HDCP enabled Hazros to come available or just going out and buying a Benq G2400WD (yes I know its a TN, but it seems to scale resolutions nicely, has all the inputs I need, and is very, very low lag for a gamer!).

What i'd like to know is how the Hazro 24inch model supports scaling compared to the Benq G2400WD (eg if I stick a PS3 in it, or a non-blue-ray dvd player). As far as I can tell from reviews, the Benq is pretty much perfect for this. As for the Hazro, I haven't seen much discussing anything apart from the fact it is a reasonably priced IPS with reasonable input lag.

Thanks guys.

Indeed, it has 3 scaling modes and all of them look fine in games of course desktop usage and movies you'd be using native so no need to worry there.

The updated 24" is said to have a better scaling chip too (implemented on new IO board which fixes the DPMS issue) so even more resolutions are supported now.

Yup, the Hazro offers: 1:1, Aspect and Full (stretched).

For instance, if you put a 1024x768 image in, 1:1 will leave you with a small box displayed on the screen, Aspect will leave you with black bars at the sides and Full will stretch to the whole screen, hence making it stretched lengthways.

All three are easily accessible from a single button on the OSD controls.

It's worth noting too that when switching aspect ratio the delay time is very low (around 1 second) unlike some of the other screens I have had where you had to wait a few seconds for the screen to refresh with the new aspect ratio!

I don't even notice it, even when watching the odd bit of media I play (during my lunch break) on the monitor.

Well having always TN TFTs and CRTs, I can't quite get my head around how it looks. I do recall being very sensititive to the refresh rate on my CRT though, and unless it was 100hz+ I would eventually get bad headaches, even though others thought it was fine. THis is why the "twinkling effect" bothers me. Can someone try to explain in words what it looks/feels like?

Your best bet would be to get down to a retailer that has Apple Cinema Displays on demo and see if they'll playback some films and have a look yourself, it's so subjective with some people not noticing and others being infuriated you'll get 10 different responses to what "it" is.

I've never noticed any twinkling effect. The only issue i had when i first got it was that video looked very dark, mainly cos black was now black(ish) instead of tinted green due to viewing angle issues.
