I got the (black) 23" about 2 weeks ago -- I installed it last friday. I've had a few "out of the box" issues and one which I just discovered:
Out of the box:
+ The screen stand bottom plate was not screwed properly. I had to use a screwdriver to finish off the assembly.
+ There is one loose piece in the screen, a screw or something that makes noise when I move the screen around.
+ The OSD menus were in korean, I had to fumble with the horrendous touch interface randomly until I found a way to switch it to english
+ Using a "pixel tester" to check for dead pixels (none) I notices that on a black background the backlight is very, very uneven. the right side is brighter, and the bottom right corner in particular is a LOT brighter. Possibly that missing loose screw...
+ The screen chassis is very warm, almost hot. the panel itself is a LOT warmer than my Apple 23"; I measure it at 42C while the apple one is at 28C
So I was not massively impressed -- the panel is indeed good, but the built quality is lame.
Now, I used the screen a little since the week-end, and I was reasonably happy -- even almost forgot the backlight as it's mainly visible on a black background.
However, I just discovered that the pixels are 'burning'. Areas of the screen that had static horizontal lines (bottom of the menubar, Adium windows title bars) have left a mark ! If I launch the pixel-tester again, I can see a very visible darker patch there; typicaly the most visible one is the OSX menubar shadow at the top of the screen.
Anyone experienced that ? I'm now worried sick, because my "return" week is done, and I might have to deal with a questionable "guarantee" that doesn't inspire confidence, considering the other topics I since discovered about that screen...
