Hi all.

Not sure where the problem lies.

Decided to use displayport cable rather than dvi, but as soon as I connected up, I got display corruption - a sort of flickering of a square pattern - pretty much constantly.

The set up is
Sapphire 6950 toxic
> mini displayport to displayport adapter
> displayport cable
> Monitor

I tried a different cable and got same result

I tried different adapter and think I got slightly improved result

Then I tried hooking it up to the 2nd connection on GPU and though this had solved it as had not seen corruption for a bit, but have noticed it twice in about 10 minutes now, and just this 2nd, the screen blanked out momentarily.

Do you think another cable might solve this? Or is it possible that it is the monitor?

I just really don't want to be spending any more money, and I want something that I paid a lot of money for to work properly.

Edit: removed problem 2

If anything it sounds like it might be the GPU, corruption is rarely the monitor, usually the GPU or the cable/connection.

Does DVI completely resolve the problem? Or is this the 2nd connection you speak about?

DVI is absolutely fine.

Using the 2nd displayport connection on gpu is almost perfect, but still get occasional flicker/momentary blank screen

What sort of adapter have you used?

You can only use a dual link active adapter that needs USB power. they are about £75.

I have 3 of these monitors and had to buy 2 adapters.

Passive adapters only go up to 1920x1200 and anything above will give corruption.

I am not using a displayport to dvi adapter

I am using a mini displayport to large displayport adapter that came with my GPU's, and then just a regular displayport cable to the monitor.

Have ordered another cable to try. If that doesn't work, then it must surely be the monitor?

Will have to see.

Anyway, is there some way to disable overscan over hdmi on these monitors?
