Hey there, just got my 2900 installed.

When i boot my pc it says new hardware found, New PCI-E device,
I installed everything on the HIS disk that came with it, and ati CCC works fine,
And in device manager theres a yellow "?" with pci device

any ideas?

Thanks,

Allso, what are the latest drivers for it at the moment im on 8.37 i think if im reading the correct thing.

I have also got one of these things in task manager, no idea why. I have a feeling it's to do with having onboard sound disabled, perhaps it needs it for HDMI?

Ah good thinking, Because i allso disabled the HDMI as i didnt need it.

These are the only drivers available at present, i did read somewhere that a new set are due out on the 23rd though.

have you tried right clicking the device and telling it search through the CD for the driver to see if it picks anything up for it.

Lets hope the drivers out on the 23rd offer a large performance boost :)

That is the thing I don't understand, they are 6 months late and yet still haven't got the right drivers out

Fixed the thing saying pci device without drivers, it was HDMI which iv now installed the drivers for.

The HIS drivers are 8.361 for controll center

Now downloading new'er ones tho.

Allso, i have a problem no matter what graphics setting i use i get 20fps on farcry, any ideas?

PS this 20fps thing happens on the latest drivers which iv just downloaded aswell

Thanks

Not that this is to do with the drivers,

But how do i run 3dmark06 on this card? it wont load up, it stays on the "scanning configuration" for ever lol

Ty

HOLEY, this card is Awsome.

3dmark06 is verry good compaired to my 7800GTX, my scores doubled.
i have to say i was expecting 8-9k for only 270 pounds and with my low 3ghz E6600 clock, but this work of art prooved me wrong

And i can view 3dmark06 as a actual movie now not a slide show :D

and btw, my score is with my cpu at 3ghz not 3.6, had to lower it due to going back to air cooling wilst i clean out my water loop when i can be botherd.

Not bad, about the same as my OC'd 8800GTS 320MB, with my CPU at 3ghz too.

Was the 2900 OC'd at all?

Iv fixed my problem too, i forgot i installed crazy farcry eye candy stuff (which braught my old 7800gtx down to 2-3fps lol) so i reinstalled farcry and now the fps is back normal

Wow. Wow. Oblivion isnt a slide show any more .. jump for joy

Well, what are you wating for then?!

If they dropped the price by £50 - £60, then it'd be strong competition for the 8800 GTS 640, especially if they sort the drivers out.

Anyway, I don't meant to sound picky, you've got one so glad you're enjoying it! :)

aye cheers,

I would have baught a 640 8800 a few months ago because iv tested my friends in this pc,

And i have to admit, this blows it away, benchmarks say otherwise but for what i Do with it, (not slamming it up 24xAA and 5000x7000 res), the 2900 is better suited for me

I'm with you on that one, I have to remind myself sometimes to stop benching and overclocking, and to just use the ruddy thing for games!!

I've got my card at stock day to day, and at 1440 x 900 resolution, I don't know why you'd need any more performance to be honest.

I heard there are some major AA/AF issues with the current drivers. Are you experiencing this?

I think if you compare 0xAA to 4xAA, there should be a unusually large drop in performance.
