HD 3870 Crysis

Anyone have this card and can let me know how it runs
im a bit baffled cause my brother can run his crysis on medium settings
with a pentium d 2.8 dual core 1 gig of ram and a 8600 gt

whereas im also on medium with q6600 2gb 1066mhz ram and a hd 3870
shouldnt mine be a lot better :/

we both have 15 inch monitors @ 1024 - 768
mine is even an old crt :/
could it have anything to do with crysis being a the way its meant to be played game
ive heard about some crysis hotfix for something aswell whats that

LOL!!!, at that rez you should be flying, something is deffo up with your set up.

Have you installed the latest Catalysts 7.12 drivers??.

It's not that. You should be running it in high or even very high settings at that resolution with the specs your machine has. What operating systems are you both using and what power supply do you have?

P.S. You really do need a much better monitor to do that PC any sort of justice.

yea i know my monitor is pants im waiting for payday to get one of the 22" samsung lcds

as far as im aware i have the latest drivers so im baffled :/

You definitely should be maxing all the options available to you comfortably then.

Try running the Crysis benchmark http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1791 and see what you get.

motherboards?... are you sure that ram is runnign at that speed etc..

Have you actually tried 'high' yet or did you just let Crysis do the choosing for you?

im downloading the benchmark now
i did let crysis choose for me but i had a go on high yday and to me and it wasn't playable
when i run ati overdrive it says my gpu clock is running at 300 mhz :/
is that the problem or is that a gpu version of speedstep

Could be not enough power is going to the gpu. Could also be that the gfx card is running in 2D mode when it should be running in 3D mode.

300 Mhz is the 2D speed.

So....are you using the Catalyst control center?

Try re-isntalling the drivers again, and then look at the overdrive tab...See what the requested field says.

If you are running XP make sure the hotkey poler (sp?) is enabled unless you are running something like tray tools.

Try reinstalling the drivers. There is also an ATI Crysis hotfix available from their website.
