looking at 2 cards now what would you go for if you wanted to keep you pc silent but be able to play games to a ok/good standard

Sapphire HD 3870 Ultimate Edition 512MB passively cooled

or the newer HD 4830

PowerColor HD 4830
or
Sapphire HD 4830

i would need to buy a Accelero S1 cooler for these 2 were as the 3870 is ready to go

bangs head on desk i hate picking hardware

£120 max including any after market cooler i would need

just wondering how much of a difference there is between the

Sapphire HD 3870 Ultimate Edition
and the
Powercolor 4830

some people have said there isn't much in it ?

the powercolor card has 3 outputs something that's worrying me is will there be a difference in display between the first 2 outputs vga and dvi on my 2 monitors ?

it had a hdmi but i am sure that i would have to disable a monitor to output via this (not a problem)

stock vs stock there's not much but the 4830 has more raw power behind it and is a very good overclocker, also better with AA. It should do 4850 speeds.

the powercolor 4830's are actually pretty quiet. i'm letting ATi overdrive play around with the card ive got here and its currently sitting at 690/1005 (500/750 stock) and still rising. the gpu's sitting at 62c and the fan is running at 37%.

i can jut hear it over the sharkoon silent eagle case fans ive got in my HTPC :)

your budget is good for a 4850.the stock fan is not that noisy just set the speed between 40%-50% unless you water cool most of your part then the noise will be audible.
