HD 4850 Under performing??

I recently purcahsed a HD 4850 and after reading reviews and other peoples benchmarks it seems like my card is under performing. When playing COD 4 at 1280x1024 with max settings and 4x AA i'm only getting an average of between 40-50 Fps while others seem to be getting 75-100fps.

This isn't the only game effected most of my games including Left4Dead and DMC4 get an average of 60fps which is perfectly playable but again seems lower than expected. Is this normal for my system is the CPU or RAM causing a bottleneck? Or is it something else?

dont take my word for it but i think that your CPU or RAM may be bottlenecking the card a wee bit, but at the FPS you're getting i wouldn't be too bothered to upgrade anything.

No problem thanks for the help. I'm going to upgrade my processor sometime next month anyway might as well buy some new Ram considering how cheap it is. Was also thinking of overclocking my CPU until i get the replacement but is that even worthwhile?

i only get 30-40fps on Cod4 online on a 20 man server. Judging by our similar CPUs I'm guessing that's the problem.

I have that same CPU as you clock it to 3.0GHz its done pretty easily with stock cooler i have got a 3870 and i'm getting mroe frames than you in cod5?

Well taking off AA/AF and making sure V-Sync is off could be a few easy ways to see if you get any frame-rate gains.

But other than could, could may as well be the CPU or RAM as others have suggested.

Why don't you try taking out the 512/Mb sticks and benchmark then? Personally, I doubt it will make a huge difference but might gain you a few FPS :)

mind you if their 2x512Gb there preety sweet sticks of ram!! :p

Lol :D

Thanks for all the advice as I said before I'm getting a new CPU next month so it'll do until then.

Please for the love of god do not get generic cheapy ram, make sure its good stuff, good speed and most importantly a good manufacturer.
