HD 4850 V's 9800GTX+

nice one, good to see the 8800gtx thrown in there as well for comparison. I think that will pretyt much settle it for most people on the 4850 vs 9800gtx+ issue.

4850 still in the lead in 2 games out of 7 cod 4 and tomb raider its probably be in the lead in all source games which loads of us are playing and i still can see any benchmarks on it i would like to see ut3 result to .

in end of the day nvidia will say haha we beat 4850 in all games but they did not and there is no source game and other popular games benchmarks and with a stupid name 9800+ which they should have just called it 9850 will add dramatically big price tag

Name anoys me. Why could it be the GTX 240 or even a 9900GTX. +, awww come on, if anything that is a last minute descision.

Depends. A dual slot version of the 4850 with extra head room for an OC should be able to take it on. Atleast it wont simply be a case of buy Nvidia/ATi in the price range :)

Well of course it was, an overclocked 9800 GTX would be faster than a stock 4850. :)

So ?, it was "out the box" Clocks for both, if someone does not like either card don't buy it simple. :)

If the 9800GTX+ arrives on July 16th like Nvidia say and its Cheap enough or that $30 more than the 4850, then some peeps will buy it.

its all about price too. looks like the 9800gtx will be available for around £150. (oone place i know for sure it will be £149), that still isnt enough if the GTX+ is neck and neck with the 4850

Agreed if the 9800+ is coming into the 4870 price range then i am not sure about it,if the 9800+ was the same price as the 4850 fair enough

Nice find, seems my 4850 which should be here tomorow *fingers crossed* should out perform a 9800gtx on my favourite game cod4 :D thats superb news considering i only spent £125 on it :p

^I can tell you, the 4850 owns cod4... I play 8xAA 16xAF 1680x1050 max details and it runs like a dream.

Nice, also the 9800GTX+ isn't impressive at all. ln the games where 9800GTX + did well were ones which nVidia were doing well in generally and the 8800GTX was nearly up to the 4850 in fps.

If the 4850 can overclock anything like the 3850 i think it will leave the 9800 behind. People were getting some seriously fast overclocks on the 3850. I also think the 4850 being a new card and the 9800gtx+ being an overclocked 9800gtx ati can probably pull more performance through driver updates than nvidia will be able to with the 9800.

Just checked the tracking and it seems the card has left the depot ready for delivery tomorrow morning :D Better have a beast of a gaming session tonight to say goodbye to my trusty x1600xt :p

dont forget - ati released a driver that improves performance allready, did the review use it?

EDIT: they didnt use it. the driver may allready push it ahead in terms of performance.
