HD 4850X2 Benchmarks

I think we'll be seeing around £250 for this card, but it certainly looks intriguing, definately a better buy than the GTX280.

It is a better buy than the GTX 280 definately.

But only if you want one, getting two in Crossfire would be much worse than GTX 280 SLI because Quad GPU scales so badly.

Well yeah! x2 GPU's and DDR5 compared to the 280 1 GPU and DDR3, it wouldn't sell if it didn't beat the 280. Now onto the downside, AMD drivers aren't worth the hassle.

Amd drivers are on par if not better than nv's atm but they do have more features on there cards and they are selling more also so more problems will surface i agree there are teething problems atm but as usual with ati/amd they will fix these month by month as they have for years. The majority like amd drivers over nvs and i have seen far more complaints about nvs lack off support than i have about amd's over the years of reading forums.

AoC, Crysis, GRID, COD4, Oblivion, Clive Barker's Jericho, FEAR, R6: Vegas, STALKER, UT3, Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, COJ, COH, Lost Planet all scale fine.

Teething problems, How long have the cards been out now? Seems each an every month they bring drivers out and fix nothing. I guess they have a bunch of tooth picks at hand :D

Not to mention the amount of threads about stability issues. I am far from a "Fanboy" I go with what card actually works and works well, regardless of ATI/nVidia. If ATI had it spot it I would most certainly of chosen an x2.

Obviously the ATI fanboys may have a differnce of opinion to me and thats fine, I only say what I see and at this point in time the most stable top of the line GPU is the 280GTX.

No good in having a Ferrari if the ignition is faulty.

NP=No Problems

1800xt-1900xtx1900xt NP sametech mature drivers
2900 newtech skipped 3870 sametech NP mature drivers
4870 newtech skipped 5870 sametech mature drivers ?
see a patten as to why i avoid ATI driver issues.

NV 8800-280 sametech mature drivers.

How does a 4650x2 compare to two 4850's in crossfire? It looks like it will be more expensive but I'd asume it would be around the same performance? Wouldn't it be better to get a couple of 4850's?
