HD 4890 res help

So i have my Card linked to my monitor through HD input and i can set res at 1920 x 1024 fine and i have it linked up to my t.v: 42inch HD sharp T.V
through DVI - HDMI but on the t.v i can only get a max of 1280x1024.. any ideas what i can do to increase this?

It may be the max res your tv can take, do you have the model number to hand.

Its a 42inch true HD sharp aquos, my ps3 runs at full res so i don't see why i can't do it like this + i used to be able to do it on my old pc through scart lead to the tv

i'm not certain on this, but i don't think True HD(anything 720 above?) is same as Full HD(1080?) so RJC is probably correct.

If the model number is LC42D62U then it is full HD.
Have you checked the TV setup screens / manual to make sure it is in 1080p/1080i mode?

I could check, but it is in the HDMI socket on the tv so it would be on 1080p naturally but the gfx card won't pick it up

Also, it is full 1080p HD, just checked and i actually have it through VGA, surely this should not matter?
