hello there i have a hd 4870 and thinking of upgrading is the hd 4890 a lot better and does it send sound and video from dvi to hdmi dongle or adaptor as im using an hdmi lead into my amp

It isnt a lot better, its about 10-15% better, save the money for DX11. Consider this: are there any games you cannot play full settings?

just some times when playing cod 5 at 1280x 1024 its sluggish. so thought hd4890 would be better

si your 4870 512mb or 1gb? at that resolution it should sit all over that game, post your full specs. Looks to me theres a bottleneck somewhere

post your full specs, definetly sounding like a bottleneck, shouldn't have a problem in cod5 with a 4870.

motherboard is M4A78-E amd phenom 2 x4 3.2ghz artic cooler pro.. ddr3 memory im gettin round about 6345 on furmark running at 1024x768 msaa off.. my bus speed running at 240mHz i have core speed at 3.6

That doesnt sound right at all, is it 512mb or 1GB btw? Did you driver clean the pc after installing the card? And did you do a fresh install after?

1gb yes fresh install im using 9.6 driver as the 9.7 was poor in furmark.. its just some levels with a lot of detail like trees and water when shooting gun goes sluggish and theys a drag on the game..

i was gonna sell my hd4870 to my friend and put 50pound towards it and get a hd 4890
