i recently purchased a xfx HD 5870, around 2 months ago, haven't been using it that much though.
anyway when ever a game goes over 200 fps, the GPU literally screams and at 300 fps, it noise is unbearable. i know this is usual for high framerates but i think the noise is extremely loud compared to when i was using my HD 4870. does this show signs of the GPU breaking or is the noise dependent on the card you use? the noise at 300 fps, is just as loud as the average system fan noise, Really loud.
it can get annoying in game menu's which don't cap there framerate i.e. crysis and even more annoying when in stalker, no GUI caps the framerate to 60 (probabley some startup command will do it though)
just to confirm: the noise is a squel not a grinding or any other kind of fan noise. if we presume high pitch noise is high freq, the noise is at a very high frequency
