HD 6850 Display driver crashing?

I'm playing RIFT on medium settings, getting 90 FPS so it's not taxing my graphics card too much, yet every once in a while it'll freeze, go back out of full screen mode and say 'AMD Display Driver crashed and restarted'

It's then fine until it happens again..


I put it back to stock cos I thought maybe the OC was doing it, but it's still showing the problems.

I'm only playing at 1440x900 so it shouldn't be too taxing..


Could it be because I tab out quite a lot?

Yes tabing a lot would cause this sort of problems, I have experienced it and have read about others who tab a lot having the same problem. Also if you get 90FPS have you tried using v-sync? Will be less strain on the GPU and might help if you need to tab a lot for whatever reason.
