I’m currently running a HD5770 card, thinking of upgrading to a HD6870.

Is it worth doing it? Will I see much difference in the two? I need it for gaming, I just feel I’m not getting the best performance from the 5570 card.

Sorry if this has been discussed before, I did have a search.

Cheers for that.

After reading that I'm a right in saying that the GTX 460 is a good card too?

I think I will get the HD 6870 though! not a bad price on the Overclockers uk website.

The 460 is good but the 6870 is faster...I love mine very cool and powerful

Want to save £45? the 460 1GB at £144 is a steal, clock it to 800Mhz for as good as 6870 performance, it runs super cool and quiet. You get some nice Nvidia exclusive features such as physx, cuda and 3D vision.

Being honest Easy dont you think the 6870 is a bit over priced considering the prices of the cards its butting heads with. If it was around £170 I would agree with you.:)

Mine was 179 with a £10 voucher code so in essence £169 I intend to get another when the prices settle and kill off a 580GTX;) for considerably less.

I do agree pricing on the 6870 should come down from £189 but I think the prices will drop within the next few weeks and when the 6900 hits.

Anything above £170 odd and it's retailers price gouging. Additionally, the cards it's "butting heads with" are only on a temporary price cut to stimulate sales, they'll increase in price in the next few days.

I got the Asus 6870 earlier this week and paid 175 for it including delivery which seemed ideal to me as I agree that the 200 price point was maybe a bit high considering what the competition was going for.
I also fancied a change back to ATI as I had issues with my last two nvidia cards - 8800 Ultra went kaput and had to be RMA'd and the GTX260 replacement had driver issues for a while earlier this year that made it unreliable and I just couldn't trust it to play games.

I don't think any of the nVidia feature like physX do much, so i'd go for the 6870, but wait for the 69xx to come out incase the price drops. (nVidia might slash its prices too)

I got mine for £130 and there was nothing else in that price range that competes. It's a very capable card and a bargain at that price imo, just dont expect to max out BF3 on it :D

Holy thread revival!! At £139.99 for the refurb 470 I cannot recommend it over this brand new card with 5yr warranty. I my opinion the refurb 470 is probably £10 too much and was about the only card not reduced for 'this week only'.
