hd 7950 overclock

hi i have this card sapphire hd 7950 flex and it wont overclock. ive tried alsorts but it crashes in games and even when on the net i get artifacts on screen. ive tried 1000mhz and up over. is the boost the proplem?

Sounds like you got a real stinker if it crashes at 1ghz

Are you sure you're not in the locked BIOS? If the card has 2 bios'eses

some early cards wont do much over that . the newer boost ones oc like beasts though

I've tried it on both bios's. Its a boost card, it jumps from 860mhz to 925mhz . annoying really as I got the card because of the huge over clocks.

Have a read of this thread. Your card will be throttling and that could be the reason for the instability.

Hi ltmatt, good read but will the his BIOS work on the sapphire flex editions? If not is there a BIOS similar for it ?

ok so its now flashed, (thanks ltmatt) i had it at at 1050/1500 and ran fine in furmark but crashed withing a minute in crysis 3. in trixx it wont allow me to adjust the voltage and in msi afterburner the voltage section is switched off. im guessing this card doesnt want to be overclocked.

card is working spot on now. in trixx the force constant voltage box was ticked. got it at 1100/1500 with no problems and will push it further tomorrow .
