HD 7950 Overclocking The Memory vs Core

Right now am running 1005/[email protected] is it true, Overclocking the memory isn't really worth it on theses GPUs? Would I be better off OC the core more and dropping the Memory clock down towards stock?

Say I ran 1100/1250 vs 1005/1500 witch would you say give better performance?

Thanks

No point running the memory less than 1500MHz, its easily capable of that and more, but you do get bigger gains increasing the core speed. Aim for 1100/1500 to begin with, but you might need a little more voltage.

Thanks might try upping the voltage to 1.1v and test and see how low I can drop it back down.

Well this is interesting When I bench Heaven @1005/1500 my GPU temps hit 70c I just ran bench again this time 1100/[email protected] and crashed stage 23 :( so I just checking GPU-z and my max temp is only 64c lol How is this possible with a high OC plus voltage?

I think you'll be able to do 1050/1575 on stock volts but try what i suggested first.. i have to use about 1.174v for 1150 which is perfectly fine. Good luck :)

Did try couple months back 1005/1575 on stock voltage benches passed and games run good. But was getting driver crashes randomly so I increased the voltage to 1.043 from 1.031 since doing so never once had driver crash.
I'll test with your voltage tomorrow and post back my results :)

Thanks again

Just been on an empty BF3 server testing @1.118v and didn't get any crash but I was only on for about 10mins, will test more tonight.
Max temp was 64c very happy with that seeing has temps was around 61c with other OC.

Am now stuck, Heaven crashed before even loading @1.118v so I increased up to 1.125v and it run but now and then I noticed artifacts and my Temps hit 74c this time.
So @1100/1500 @1.125v I still not stable lol should I just quite now and stay @1005/1500 stable.

Comparing my two benchmark scores 1770 is my best @ 1005/1500 FPS-70 and @1100/1500 I got 1878 FPS-74
For a big OC just extra 4 frames  not had a chance to test games properly Because of crashing but am not sure if I will notice a really difference?

Thanks

Thanks for reply, Yer heaven has the glitch when panning the dragon. But theses wasn't like that theses where what looked like white flashes for split second and only happened now and then. First time I ran bench @1.118 it ran sweet no glitch no crash, but early on it crashed and I upped voltage to 1.125 and it finished but with them white glitches. lol

Think I just try gaming @1.125 since I not had a crash yet at that voltage.

Thanks again

No crashing on sleeping dogs and temp was about same 70c on that game. But still got the odd FPS drops but am sure thats just this game its a console port.
Now Some BF3.

Sleeping Dogs gameplay is perfect on max settings with my 7950, but the cutscenes can stutter a bit. BF3 runs pretty well on ultra, although i've encountered some glitches (not sure if it's my card, the game or AMD's drivers?). My max temp so far is 61C despite the high stock voltage, but the HIS IceQ cooler is an absolute beast on this card!

My cut scenes are solid 60FPS, I run the game most times 60FPS its mainly when driving down bizy streets the frame drops into 40s
But I have read a lot people also have this with SD

What drivers you using? am on 12.9 beta and what glitches you seeing?

Its looking stable :) Played sleeping Dogs couple missions, fifa 13 and full round of BF3 64 player conquest on Strike at karkand.

Bf3 temps are no different to before around 60c, sleeping dogs tho hits 73c and fifa 13 not very demanding hits 55c.

Shadows glitch i had this with Alan wake it was my overclock bad needed more voltage. The texture tho is a bf3 issue its something called z-buffer
