Pleased to hear your happy with your new card mate. So does that mean you've actually sold your 7970 Matrix Platinum? I'm currently running one myself and considering getting another to run along side it, or selling it and getting a R290 as a replacement. I'd be interested in your thoughts regarding the performance increase you've seen, as that might sway my decision....

HD 7970 Matrix Platinum Replacement

Yes, the 7970 is gone, im still a little sad as the card was a monster 
I was tempted to get a second one and go crossfire, but you cant get them brand new anymore for anything less than £350, and considering i only paid £320 for mine i wasnt too keen. There are some available on a particular auction site, but again, second hand so not top of my list.
As i mentioned before, OCUK had them at just over £220 a while ago so missed atrick there
Whilst i cant tell you how well the 290 performs yet as ive only tried a beta game, i can tell you its lighter, smaller in terms of slot size (2 instead of 3 with the 7970) and is a little longer. Fan noise, honestly? i think the software must be bugged as setting it to 100% made no noise difference at all!! perhaps the fans arent exactly rip roaring fast but i was expecting something
I will be online on BF4 tonight so will be more than happy to feedback on FPS from that.
If there is anything in particular you wanted to know, ask away, if i can answer i will.
Also - 2 7970 matrix platinum cards would eat up space so i would be a little cautious over it, unless of course you WC them
