hd audio or ac 97

hi i have a msi p55-gd65 and coolermaster scout.
I am trying to connect the front panel up
but i have an audio cable that has both hd audio and ac97 connections I believe they the should be connected to connection jaud1 on the motherboard
but which do you connect.
 
I wanted to connect the HD audio, but the cable is just too short and I have to use ac97.

I'm not an audiophile though, so I don't mind too much :-) I'd always try the HD first and only use the ac97 if the former doesn't work.
 
thanks i have connect the hd audio.

I have a small connectot that came along with case that says speaker (4 pin connection) but there are no instructions on what to do with it.
 
the 4 pin speaker is for post beeps and you can usually find the pins for connecting it on the same set of connectors as all your front panel connectors ie power,reset,ide,pled.
 
there only 4 pin connection on the motherboard that looks like it fits is called jcd1
and the manual description says its a cd in connector which is provided for external
audio input

Okay you don't need to connect it at all,but if you want to connect the buzzer speaker it goes on the connection labelled JFP2 plug it into the 4 pins across the side of the connector.Its only for post beeps anyway mate..
