Basically im trying to get my PC to connect in HD to my new monitor.
I have a BFG GTX 9800 1GB + OC which has an S-video HD output

I have this cable, with blue, green and red, ending in an S video, this goes into my gfx card. Now my monitor is Hanns.G HG281D 28" http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-025-OK&groupid=17&catid=1120&subcat=

Which only has this sort of HDMI connection

So what cable can i use which has s video male endings, then goes into an HDMI input ?

Would the cables used for a ps3 work ?
for example

Thanks for your time chaps :)

TBH, I would't connect it with any of those cables. I was in a similar situation and I got a DVI-D Male to HDMI cable. They are very cheap (a few quid) and there is no loss of quality because DVI and HDMI are both digital and inter-compatible.

Here is a pic of the cable I mean:

As a stopgap, the VGA cable should work (D Sub).

Hello there, Your Graphics card will have a DVI output, that will be the large white port on the back of the card. It will actually most likely have two of these.

What you need for HD connectivity it to buy a DVI to HDMI lead. Most retailer do these, and they should not cost too much. Indeed, do not pay an extortionate amount as a digital signal does not improve with more expensive cables.

Alternatively you could use that red connector block in your first picture alongside a standard VGA lead (blue connectors). This will pass through the correct resolution for HD, however, if you intend to use the machine for playing bluray, then it may not work to the full HD specification if the movie studios implement the protection schemes which up until now they have refrained from.

Hope this makes sense.

or get an hdmi to hdmi cable (standard stuff) & a dvi to hdmi converter, if you already have hdmi to hdmi cable then it's only a couple of quid for an adapter.
