i'm more disappointed than ever with my sony minidv camcorder, looking to upgrade to HD, now, firstly for anyone who has one is the benefit that great?
also to view them on a HD tv, i assume i need a HD dvd writer and a HD dvd player, is this correct?
thanks
ps i'm sure there is nothing wrong with the sony minidv, but technology seems to have surpassed it.

Not sure quite how big the difference is but to get an idea of what you can do check the link below for user footage of the Canon HV20, a popular model. Some are quite compressed though, like the vimeo.com examples

There must be a few options for playing on a TV
I know there are some with HDMI so you can connect straight to your TV screen (assuming it's an HD screen).
One way would be to get a HTPC (or PS3 or similar) and wirelessly send from your PC to that, or burn onto normal data DVDs and put them into the HTPC.
I bet there's a better suggestion though

is the hd player, and hd writer accurate?
bearing in mind the hd players have come down a lot in price, as have the writers
