HD controller problems - new mobo?

Hello,
I currently have several problems with my current setup so need to decide if I go for a new Mobo/CPU and which one.

Problems started a few weeks ago with atapi IDE Controller problems (2k of those each day in the eventvwr). The system still works but would BSOD from time to time, or just hald. Seatools and others don't find any problems with the HD, Seagate support say it's not the HD. Replaced all*cables, etc already.*
My soundcard is sometimes disappearing (no audio device installed). I installed a cheapo PCI*soundcard which works but has other issued. And a few days ago my graphics card showed lines and*squares which could mean it's on its last legs as well. I reckon this issue is unrelated and just muddies the water but I just don't know. RAM is ok according to memtest. I went*through the OC troubleshooting guides to no avail so I now assume it's the mobo and/or IDE*controller on there that's faulty.
I re-installed Win7 which helped for about two days and then it all went haywire again. I did not*install any new hardware (other than the cheap SC to see if it fixes the problems) recently so I*can rule this out as the cause for the problems. If someone has an idea what else to try please*let me know...

Since the system is about 6 years old it might be time for a new one. The current setup is this:

Mainboard:
Abit IP35
Bios:
Phoenix 6.00 PG
CPU:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 1.6GHz, Socket 775 LGA
Cooler:
Not sure, would have to check, could I keep it?
Graphics card:
Gigabyte, Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 1GB, PCIe
RAM:
Corsair, DDR2 6GB (2x2, 2x1)
OS:
Win 7 SP 1
Hard drive:
SATA Seagate Barracuda, 3 TB (IDE, NOT AHCI)
Soundcard:
Saffire LE (external, Firewire)
PSU:
PurePower be quiet 630W
Case: Antec Piano

I'd be looking to keep the case, PSU, HD and if possible RAM/graphics card.

The system is a family PC with some music recording and a bit of gaming but nothing too intense*(Minecraft, GW2, etc) that's why I get along with an older graphics card even if that's*borderline now.

I lean towards Intel as that seems to get more for the same money atm. Not sure if an i3 or i5*are the way to go, what are your suggestions for about €400 for mobo, mboard, RAM and gfx?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Cheapest I can do. Not sure how the orange RAM will look against the gold heat sinks of the motherboard though? You will need new RAM as yours is DDR2. I've also added a SSD to spend the system up. Use this for Windows and program. Double check the clearance of your case for the cooler. It's big! Perhaps even over kill?

Thanks for the reply.
I was thinking about an SSD as well but got on ok-ish so far.
Why would you go for a Pentium K instead of an I3 or I5? Purely price related? I rather spend a bit more if I can future proof the machine a bit better.

Cheers!

Ps: I can get a good RAM 8GB stick at a local shop here for €50 so that makes it a bit cheaper

Mainly the price. Because it's socket 1150 you can upgrade in the future to an i5 or i7 etc.

I don't actually know much about the Pentiums or i3's, but from what I've seen the Pentiums are great clockers. Games benefit from high clocks.

The popular i5 is an extra £144
