Hi Am looking at upgradeing my monitor and i want to be able to play blu ray on it without keep altering it from my dvi to hdmi conector on my lcd tv, are modern monitors these days compatible provideing you use the correct leads not bothered about full HD just upscale as good as possible as also dont want a massive moinitor in front of me prob looking at 20" for gameing widescreen will prob still have it wired to me tv but trying to alter layout of room so will prob be looking for a very long hdmi to hdmi cable as well prob 6m or more

But main priority is a monitor that will do it

If it helps ill be using 2 x ATI 4850s on crossfire with a intel i7 clocked to 3gb we 3mb ram so wont be short on power

3GB CPU and 3MB Ram, You sure? :D :D

You need a screen with 1:1 mapping and 1080p resolution 1920x1080, the ViewSonic above is ideal :)

Its a new system am having built decided to take plunge

Was wondering would it help if the monitors have dvi on that way then could do dvi to dvi or even dvi to hdmi but the hdmi side would be on my graphics card via a hdmi adapter

Reason dont want monitor to be to big is dont want eyestrain this would prob more likely occur when just browsing like this not well gameing i think

What price range and will there be any at 19" or is 22" lowest you get in HD, What would quality be like on DVI to DVi as i seen few monitors that state with DVi, it be my first monitor upgrade in 4 years so previous one is on a dvi to vga adapter

Idealy if could get summot that will play blu ray for less than £150 we vat and 19" would be ideal

Have been looking at the Samsung SM2032BW Pebble and the Samsung SM2053BW Aqua and wondering whats the difference only thing i can notice is the contrast ratio how much difference would this show one being 8000 - 1 and one being 3000 - 1 which is the pebble and this is one i prefer due to shape, also sounds ideal for me we it having the hpcd support

Your not going to get a 19" or 20" monitor that can do HD, meaning 1980x1050 resolution
Some 20" monitors have 1650x1080 resolution like the ones you've suggested.
The contrast ratio on both is around the same in reality, they both use dynamic contrast to make the 1000:1 contrast ratio brighter, also making the blacks brighter.
The Aqua is a newer design but I cant imagine its much of an improvement over the Pebble

Am Not fully bothered about them being full HD just higher resolution than 1280x 1024
And just Blu ray compatible as got a drive so might as well make use of it which would prob not be often

More than likely its other 24" monitors (Dell S2409W 24/Dell S2309W 23") that only have 1080 pixel height rather than 1200, some people prefer these, although they're more skinny than the current 24" one on ocuk. If your using a console It would also mean no black bars. You will still get black bars that arent 16:9 tho and 4:3 videos would only use 3/4 of the width. Also the dell has HDMI.

He could mean the 22" HD screens like the 22'' - ProLite E2208HDS
