I live the the HD freeview area (Crystal Palace IIRC) but I could not join in on the trial because my tv lacks an HDMI input.

Is there a freeview card out there that will receive the HD freeview signal that is currently being transmitted. My thinking is that I could use my tv as a monitor as my radeon has component outputs.

Is this possible?

Is there any way to make sure I will be able to receive the HDTV signal before splashing out on a card? My current Echostar box doesn't detect any extra channels when I scan, but I don't know if thats because it is just an normal freeview box.

Reading that it seems that I would need a meatier PC than I currently have to get a decent picture (theres a guy on there with a similar spec that gets around 9fp/s). Strangely when I downloaded the sky hd clips it was silky smooth, must be a different codec. PC is:

Athlon Xp 2600+
1gig Ram
9700 Pro
250Gb Hdd (SATA)

Its because the bbc havent updated to the 21st century and still use ye olde interlacing.

just been on bbc site and avforums site i cant seem to find anyone who has HD from their freeview box. on the bbc it says its only available from satellite or cable and that freeview is too congested. on the avforums everyone is watching hd from telewest or sky.
could someone confirm that u can recieve HD via freeview? if this is the case then i would rush out to get a HD freeview decoder!

It is a selected trial for people who receive their transmission from Crystal Palace (London). They only gave out about 450 boxes, but since it isn't encrypted you can receive it with a DVB-T tv card. But you require some hefty pc hardware.

If you receive BBC London (which you should) then you can. IIRC Crystal Palace broadcasts for about 30 miles.

There arn't freeview HD boxes.
