I have a hd tv whcih i've never used as a hd tv untill i noticed my graphics card had a HDMI socket thing.

So i am thinking of buying a hdmi cable today. Can any one tell me will i notice any differance in games, i uderstand my resultion will be lower on the tv but will i get a better picture? On consoles for example theres a big differance in hd gaming compared with none hd. Do pc games actualy support hd gaming.

Is there any thing specail i need to do to take advantage of the HD video playback. On the box of my graphics card it mentions Pure video HD technology.

My graphics card is a 260 gtx btw.

well it depends how big your tv is, if you have a 19" tft and a 26"+ TV id playback on the tv...simply because it has a much larger surface area screen size. Although if the tv is 720p then the res wont be as high as a monitor (most likely).

I get a far superior picture quality through HDMI on my samsung 37" HDTV than I do via the VGA input port.

The resolution is lower than my monitor, but then I am sat 10 times further away so it isn't that noticeable. For driving games its great! (Gears of War looks good also!)

i have a 22inch monitor, and the tv is a 42 inch and it supports 1080p.

I'm looking forward to playing grid, warhead and guitar hero on the big screen.

So theres nothing special i have to do, just plug it in and away i go?

I just plugged my gaming rig in with HDMI and nVidia control panel recognised it was a TV and set the resolution accordingly.

So yeah, pretty much plug and play. You will need a seperate cable for sound through your surround sound system...
