HD on 8800gt ?

i did look down and see where to put this but didnt know where to so,

i have 8800GT im just wondering if i downloaded a HD video clip/trailer, would it actually be in HD ? or do i have to download some kind of HD player or something ?

computers have been HD for ages, its just the resolution. WMP will do.

so i could basically download a HD movie (for example!) and it would play in high defination, what resolution are we talking about to get the proper look

the video will automatically turn to the right resolution it is recorded in within the player. Don't worry about it

It all depends if the video is recorded in High Definition! If you download an .avi movie which is 5 years old it will probably NOT be in a HD resolution so if you play it fullscreen it won't look as good as a HD recorded movie fullscreen. Try it out on http://www.apple.com/trailers! Some trailers have HD and normal content, you can compare them

ps you might need quicktime registered version to view full screen. You know where to get that... don't you

What confused me recently was when I saw a screen with 1900 x 1200 stating true HD capable for 1080i.

I would have thought a 1680 x 1050 - Oops - just answered my question - lol - 30 pixels too short!

As people have said HD is old hat on pcs really, its just a term they use to sell expensive televisions
