Were would my money be best spent.

Just about to build myself a nice new media centre with a dual freeview tuner and I have no intrest in giving sky any more money and have cancled with them today. I aint paying all that money for a HD box.

This said, I do want to play the new HD DVDs in the future and in the decent future watch HDTV over freeview (if it ever happens).

But with both of them not looking like being here for quite a while (i think) if it actually worth buying a HD compatabile Plasma/LCD. Also, i have heard about the HD sticker con, so thats in the back of my mind.

Also, what is the best connection to use from the back of my graphics card to the Plasma, the DVi socket or monitor output?

Cheers for any help

How long have you had your last TV for ?, i dont know what the avarage life of a TV is beofre people decide to swap them ...5 years ?
Anyway if your buying a TV now and imagine you will still have it in 4 or 5 years time, do you think in 4 or 5 years your going to be playing any HD media ?, if you do then why buy a standard Def screen ?
The only other option is to wait a while and buy when prices have come down and equipment is better spec, but then you could always be waiting.
i say buy for today but have a bit of a thought for tomorrow.

How do you check it is running at 1080i? My I have a LG32 setup for 1360xsomething, how do I check?

I have a 9800pro at the mo, do you think i will get a better DVD picture with the X850xt which I ordered yesterday?

I wouldnt go for the cheapest LCD or plasma tbh, by their very nature, there is a world of difference between the cheapest and the best.

If my advice is worth anything (and i doubt it), if you cant shell out for a decent one, then stick to what you have got.

My parents recently brought a Panasonic Th42PX60 with pedestal stand and free dvd recorder for £1670, if i remember correctly. This included £80 delivery charge it arrived Saturday afternoon and they love it, just need Sky HD to finish it of.

Anyone know when Sky/NTL/BBC are starting to broadcast in HD?

They are already, 2 movie channels and Sky One are in HD that I know of...the only thing is you cant actually order the equipment yet so they may just be their for field trials etc.
