Need some help on this one for my boss. He wants a 42" plasma or lcd but future proof. Now looking about it would need to be hdcp copy protection ready.

Surely though an HDTV ready plasma should have a res of 1920*1200? I can't find any, only 1024*768 or 1366*768 but they say they are hdcp ready, but again how can it be ready if the hdcp blueray players native res is 1920*1200

Can you get them yet?

The HD specification is for 720p or 1080i. This is what Sky HD is broadcast in and HD DVD's or bluray discs will have content at this level. Films may appear at 1080p but this isn't actually a ratified resolution by the folks who organize and agree the HD specs(not to say thiungs won't change in the future)

Any TV claiming HD Ready status will also be able to downscale the picture from a 1080p source to 1080i or 720p so the TV will work fine with the signal.

If however you absolutely must have 1080p then you need to look at the latest Toshiba LCD panels as these do 1080p in the larger sizes.
