Hello.

I was looking at buying an elgato capture card for my xbox360 to live stream.

My mate has just bought an elgato and is selling his hd pvr because the hd pvr does not work with Apple Macs as well as the elgato does. He also says the elgato is easier to live stream than the hd pvr.

Should I buy the HD PVR of him or is it a real pain in the bum to do live streaming? Apparently its the latest version which has green lights when recording.

Thanks

The HD PVR2?
it depends how you stream. If you upload directly to twitch then I believe it is ok.
But in general the PVRs are more suited to recording than streaming.

I'd see how much he wants for it. There are some much better devices out there depending price.

Would the elgato be better? Only want to spend £50/£60 really.

The Elgato is double that ££, it is in the same region as the AVermedia Liver Gamer Portable. But as the Elgato is fairly new device to streaming so it probably won't come down in price quickly either.
But yes it would be better.

What software are you going to use for streaming? AFAIK OBS, FFSplit and Xsplit are still patchy on HDPVR/2 support.

Havn't even thought about software :/

Ive seen some Elgato's on gumtree for £60/£70.
