Currently running an old HD 5870 card on a X99-S platform.

Monitor is a TV/monitor M2780D

What's the best place to sink the case for high quality for surfing, and general work?

I'd also attach my work HP Elitebook for when I'm working from home.

What is your budget?

I would be looking at a mid range cards with that res, and maybe a cheap AMD R9 290 (if you can stretch to it)

Alternatively, you can get a refurbished Nvidia 780ti from evga.

Newer tech: It is hard to beat the AMD R9 380 for value, but for that resolution the Nvidia 960Ti is darn good as well, but the Nvidia 960Ti doesn't do as well at higher resolutions (but I assume you are sticking with the TV?)

Now, if you can find a cheap AMD R9 280x or AMD R9 285 (not the old Nvidia GTX 285, totally different card), then you are laughing at your resolution.

This doesn't make any sense.
