When i boot my pc, just after it POST'ing it display

No Hard Drive Detected....

Hitachi Hard Drive.... Detected

No idea why and my pc doesnt have any problems. Possibly why my pc is a refurb?

Can't say without the spec of the PC. Might be because the HD is connected to the last SATA port and it takes a while to scan the others before finding it.

My PC has 3x SATA HDD and 1x IDE HDD. Now SATA was very new when I bought it so put the OS on the IDE drive. When I turn it on from cold it never sees the IDE drive straight away and I have to Ctrl+Alt+Del a couple of times before it scans the drive for it to see it and boot.

Did wonder if this was a power supply issue but think in my case it's just the drive not spinning up to speed in time for it to be scanned. I really should have got myself another SATA drive for my OS, which I'm reinstalling in a couple of days...

Just reread your post and it sound like it's set to be the secondary drive. Only relevant with IDE I think though. Or would it say the same if not on the first SATA connection on your MB? Don't think it's anything to worry about though.

I would tend to agree with memphis in that as you pc starts it scans each ide/sata port for a drive and is correctly identifying there is no drive connected to each port until it finds your current Hard drive.
My pc does the same it goe's

dvd found
no drive found
dvd found
no drive found
maxtor 160gb
maxtor 160gb
maxtor 320gb
maxtor 320gb
and then finds my last drive
maxtor 250gb

it all just depends on how you connect your drives to your pc, however it will always scan the ide ports first and then do the sata ports if you have them. So i would say dont worry its just your pc going through the bios as it should do.
