hd ready projectors

hi,
i have a friend here at work asking me about hd ready projectors.......
he's seen these ones on the ebay for £250 odd quid and to me that seems to good to be true!
the resolution of the projectors says 800 x 600 surely thats not hd capable then or am i missing something?
can someone shed some light on this as im not 100% savvy on the projector scene.

Yeah, your gut feelings are correct, they can probably 'accept' a HD signal, lets say 720p (1280*720 resolution), but it will then be 'scaled' down to fit the projectors native resolution, and being a 4:3 aspect ratio projector makes it even worse..

You can get 'decent' 720p native home cinema PJ's for £300 secondhand on AVForums from time to time..
