Hello,

I am building a HTPC and as I have a HD TV but with only the standard Freeview internal tuner.
I want FreeviewHD and FreeSatHD aswell for a few more channels.

Hauppage seem to make a Dual HD Sat tuner but no Freeview HD tuners.
BlackGold sell the BGT3600 for Freeview HD and Freesat HD!
It also has 64bit drivers so looks very nice even at £140.

Does anyone own one of these and can confirm it works well with WMC or whatever software is the best. If not can someone atleast confirm it does both Freesat HD and Freeview HD before I order.

Thanks.

I own the blackgold bgt3620 dual DVB-T/T2 and DVB-S/S2 freeview and freeview hd works great with windows 7 media center, can't comment freesat / freesathd as don't have it.

Great.

So it works with W7MC fine then. I am probably going to use XBMC which apparently doesn't support tuner cards so we will see how it goes. I think the software is going to be the hardest part.

I plan to use a wireless keyboard/trackpad but mainly want to use a remote and my eyes are a bit crap. :p

Should be fine, apparently it works with mediaportal as well. I use it with 7 media center and the official microsoft remote control. You should have no problems with it, the first few sets of drivers had problems but as of v8.1.1.1 beta they have been great.

BBC1, BBC, ITV and C4 HD work great. (sat) The HD on free view is a bit flaky but my signal is only at 60%.

Had to manually scan for ITV HD and C4 HD. (sat)

Works as it should in WMC.

XBMC doesn't yet directly do live TV - there are plugins and PVR stuff is on the roadmap for the next 2 years or so.

If you don't want to fiddle too much then i recommend using WMC for live TV and recording plus XBMC for playback of everything else (rips, iPlayer, etc).

Use this handy plugin http://xbmcwmc.teknowebworks.com/ for each switching between the two with the remote.
