hd tv connected to pc problems

Hi, for a long time now I have had my tv connected to my pc to watch films and use as 2nd monitor with no problems.

the past few days its not working properly, it works for about 20 mins then the screen goes black and cuts out the t.v and says no signal, if i go into ati cc it doesnt detect or regonise my tv yet if i restart pc it works for about 20 mins then goes blank again.

what could be causing the problem? how can i resolve this.

EDIT: my card is asus 4850, my t.v is LG 32" HD currently connected with vga cable, I do have adaptor to do hdmi

Is the screensaver cutting in? or another powersaving feature, thats waht happened with mine.
Check to see if Windows has updated recently, there have been a lot of updates in the last few days, has it started happening since then possibly?

I dont have screen saver and powersaving is all switched off!
I do recall some updates few days back, will have a quick look and report back what they were.
