DVD HD upscaling - any good?

I've been looking at the Philips DVP5900 and I wondered how good the HD picture upscaling actually is? Does this mean it will be able to play hd dvds when they come out?

No it won't play HD DVD's.

Your HDTV has an 'upscaler' built in, it's debatable how much better the one in a dvd player will be over it, personally I wouldn't bother - I did use to own an upscaling Samsung but switched to using a PC which wipes the floor with it.
