Hi Guys

Im a total beginer when it comes to video, im after a camera that i can use to video my daughter as she grows up. I want an HD camera that has a HardDrive (small HD would be fine), so im not interested in sd cards etc. It does not need to be fancy in any way this is for basic video that i want to be able to transfer to Windows 7 with ease.

I said no to SD cards as I assume its more hassle, it might be right for me but i not sure as i havent looked at the cost od SD cards for ages. I would also assume the camera can plug into the PC to transfer files without having to pull from the SD card itself?

Budget as small as possible, advice?

Flip Ultra HD

cheap around the £100 mark, built in 8gb for 2 hours record time. Will be very simple and easy to use and transfer.

Obviously small budget = lower end of the market, but as long as you don't expect the earth!

The things you need are reasonable indoor performance and some kind of image stabiliser so the videos don't look too shaky.

I found that handhelds like the Sanyo VPC-CG21 worked pretty well (Bought one early in the year), good quality, OK indoors and around £100. It takes SD Cards (16Gb for under £20, does many hours of video) which I prefer, as many laptops have inbuilt SD card slots, and I get much faster speeds then connecting directly to the camcorder.

I then got a Sony HX9V Camera for my birthday, and that has very good video features(The next step up from the Sanyo), full 1080p60, very good quality, and makes an excellent camera to boot, for just over £200..

In fact, I need to pop my Sanyo Exacti CG21 up for sale shortly as I use the HX9V for video duties.. with Xmas coming up and people wanting to make family video's on Christmas day, I better get my ass in gear!
