Move this question if should be in monitor section...

I recently bought a 4890 HD 1gb xfx card, and an asus hd 22" screen, and they both work fine with the standard vga cable. I had a hdmi cable lieing around, so bought a dva > hdmi adapter, but when I connect the hdmi cable to the monitor it acts as if there is no signal. Any ideas please

No need to do this dude, a HDMI cable isnt going to benefit you any more than a standard DVI cable, altho HDMI/DVI > VGA

You did remember to change the signal input didnt u?

on my ASUS VH222H you have a button that switches inputs, could be as simple as that (I hope)

If it is the same monitor it is the 1st button next to the power on button.

Not quite sure what you mean Davepen, I guess I will see if I notice benefits, and thanks Beep, I totally forgot to do that, what an idiot, cheers!

He means that hdmi or dvi will be better than vga.

It's always the simple things that nail me too m8, often the real headslappers are the worst.
