HD4670 - is it still capable or time to upgrade?

Im pulling parts together to rebuild my sons machine so it can play games a bit better, at the moment the motherboard just isnt that great and lags the hell out of everything let alone games!

So Im giving him a Q6600, new board and ram but I dont know what to do about the video card? He wants things like GTA IV, battlefield 3, crysis etc but he doesnt care about maxing out the settings, medium will do. Will the 4670 be able to still cut it combined with the quad cpu or is it time to grab something better?

GTA 4 is Mainly processor limited, and BF3 is mainly Graphics limited. I think its time to upgrade your card as it would be needed to play these games in an enjoyable manner.

I would imagine the 4670 would struggle with BF3 medium settings.

You can pick up reconditioned/2nd hand 460s for ~£80 -~£100 which would be a reasonable upgrade from a 4670 and compliment the Q6600 nicely without spending silly money.

Why not give it a try and see how it copes.

My assumption is as per Plec & Taskone, it will probably not suffice.
