HD4850 help

Hi, 2 questions

1) Does anyone know how to lower the minimum fan level, in the catalyst control centre its at 66% when Idle thats still pretty loud, I dont mind it getting loud when I play a game but when the usage is 0% its annoying, so is there anyway to bring it down a bit?

2) How do I make the GPU take the load off the CPU when watching HD movies?

1) You need to download something like RivaTuner or Evga Precision or ATI tools etc to change the fan speed if you can't do it in Catalyst.

2) I think this only works when using supporting players. Not sure which ones though.

CyberLink PowerDVD does the hardware acceleration..

for the fan, you need the unlock the overdrive then you can use the fan control.

I have unlocked it but its minimum speed is 41% which is very loud, any one know whats maximum temp allowed for my GPU? (XFX HD4850 512mb XXX)

ati says 100c is fine but i would keep it at 80c or under.

Any other software that does it as powerdvd doesnt play MKV files

VLC plays MKV, and should be fine on you CPU.

I know what players play MKV I want the GPU to take the load off the CPU.
