Ok, so i went and got this BRILLIANT card, upgrading from a 7950gx2 and my god its lovely, then I find out i dont need to use the silly vga port I can in fact, plug it right into my tv (which i use for comp) excellent!

So I plugs it in rite, rite! and low and behold, it looks she-ite somehow the T.v which is 720p has got it into its head to run at its maximum 1080i and as thus, is descaling upscaling limescaling I dont know what, but it just looks horrendous, is there anyway to stop this? ive tried "forcing" the output of the graphics card to 720p through catalyst but to no avail. that just changes the desktop resolution, TV still running at 1080i.....anyone got any Ideas?

You need to use a 1:1 pixel mapping HDMI port. My 40" Sammy HDTV has one not sure if your does (HDMI port #2 on mine). This is why the picture is fuzzy. If you use VGA for now that is 1:1. Otherwise you need to get a DVI to HDMI cable (can be bought for under £10 online). I have my 4870 via the DVI-HDMI cable to the HDTV and the picture & scale are both stunning. Also that TV will only do 1360x768 max res so make sure you have it set to that otherwise it may default to 1920x1080 interlaced (30Mhz).

you diamond! plugged it into HDMi port 2 and its perfect!

edit: got sound running through too ^^
