I've noticed that Hd4870 (mine Club 3D O/C Edition) is not powerful enough for newer games (Mirrors Edge, LoTR,..) to run on Maximu/Ultra high!

Will Crossfire increase performance?
is it worth to go CF?

I have Asus P5Q-E, E8500!19" but will upgrade soon as.. Maybe to 22", but (80% that to ) 24"

ALSO... My Benchamrk Results (3D Mark 06) getting Lower and lower on same settings! ("i know Benchies not that important, but still)

I play mirrors edge max details 2xAA and it plays very smoothly on my 512mb 4870...my res is 2048x1152 btw
 
it's strange!
Maybe a need good patches or updates for game?

today started to play MoE, uh, it's so not smooth! and my HD4870 is 800/950
 
yeah theres no way a 4870 should be struggling at that res, you got latest patches? drivers? etc? If so sounds more like a general system problem than gfx card, you could try a fresh install of your OS, that should speed things up.
Other things you can try is remove your OC on gfx card, could be causing instability
If none of this works post rest of your system specs
 
If they're the 512mb versions don't bother. Minimal performance increase (dual GPU works better at high res, 512mb doesn't) for the extra heat, noise and power usage. Not to mention the issues that dual GPU set-ups bring.

At 19" it's not worth it at all, debatable at 22".

The only games I found good performance increases in were games which I was already hitting well over 60FPS in anyway. Games) that were hard for my rig to run only gained a few FPS. Crysis Warhead gained about 5 but oddly Crysis seemed to run worse with crossfire enabled.

I game at 1920x1200 and used to run crossfired 4870's before switching to the gtx280 so I'm speaking from experience.

If it's the 1GB version then it's probably more beneficial to you.
 
My Vista Ultimate (64bit) is about 4 months old!
Also i did some CPU O/C befo E8500 to 4.8ghz-4ghz!

I run 8.12 Driver!I do not O/C Gpu, usually it is on stock!
Did Try menu different setting in CCC, even everything on Performance!

mh,..maybe someone can advise me a link for Mirrors patches, updates?

but, still, benchmark getting lower!
 
Yeah you need a nvidia card to use it properly, otherwise it uses the CPU for the physx work and your FPS plummets.
 
uh, dunno what happened but...
I run TUNE UP UTILITIES!
restarted my pc, and mirror of Edga now on high setting with x2aa.. strange :-)
