Hey Peeps,

Just got a new Samsung Series 6 ( 650 ) 40 Inch LCD TV. Everythings going well except i'm trying to play 1080p Planet Earth .mkv files from my pc the to TV and it's jumping a tiny bit. It's still watchable but I dont' see why it has any reason to jump. My PC specs are Q6600 ( o'c 3.3) 8 Gig or ram ( o'c 1100 and HD4890. I'm unsure if this is a problem with codecs or the connection to my tv. Any one know of a better player to use or somthing ? I have tried VLC, ZOOM, WMP, & MPC. Any suggestions ?

Nope still doing it. CPU isn't stressed at all when i'm playing these but only seems to be using 100 meg of ram. I'd of throught it would have used more as it has plenty to play with. Anything I can do to amke it use more ram ?

I don't see why it's not working through the HDMI, i've put in VGA and it's not jumping at all but the the pictures isn't nearly as good as HDMI, the fact I had everything in CCC turn up to max for playing games make a differnce to this ?

You tried different/latest drivers, but you got to narrow it down if you can to either hardware or software or both, try another video mkv file and a avi or a different type of file.
Tv isn't 100hz's? is it but not sure i know if that would make the video jump, Try in the Home Cinema & Hi-Fi section

I assume You have Hali media splitter ? Use Core AVC and Ac3 filter and forget all these all in one players, Use WMP or WMP classic

screw this I'm gonna go down town and buy the samsung wireless adapter and just put it onto the network and stream the files to tv and use it's decoder. This is just too annoying. Games seem to run perfect so don't see why it can't handle video. Well thanks anyway mate.

could be your source, bad transcoding is very common

tried the settings for hardware acceleration

divx poalys mkv files try that

Its nothing to do with fps is it? Is the .mkv 24fps and your HDTV can't handle / isn't set for 24? (just a thought)

Hey guys was getting to annoyed with the hdmi so now have tv hooked up into network, It's steaming .mkv files stright to the tv flawlessly. Not had a file it wouldn't play yet. Just gonna keep it hooked to network as it's why I paid so much more for a series 6 anyway. It seems to run games fine via the hdmi or vga so everythings working perfect now :)

I'd also suggest that you check your FPS. If your desktop is set to 50 or 60 Hz, and you try and run 24hz blu ray you will get noticable stutter, especially on panning shots.

I find it considerably worse at 50 that at 60. Catalyst will allow you to set a profile for each refresh rate with a desktop shortcut if you like, so as long as your TV can handle 1080p24, then you might find this solves the problem.

Have you tried a different HDMI cable.

I have an older Sammy LE40M87 and have no problems with watching via HDMI. I do have some good cables.

Hey Tindale, my friend said something about the refresh rate too, i've not really had a chance to try that out as gave hdmi cable to my father. It was a 5M cable bought from ASDA for like £10 so I don't think it would have been the best quality. I'll get a shorter one next time i'm in town and give it ago with the refresh rate changed n see how it fares. Thanks for the suggestions guys :)
